You know when you come across something so fresh and desirable that you just have to have it, despite already owning a wardrobe of beautiful things? Knee-high boots with hardware that makes any leg look a mile longer? Need. Stilettos with a safety pin detail that combine a classic shape with a twist? Want.
When our buying team, familiar with the sartorial sensation of falling in love, set their eyes upon footwear label Stella Luna's collection, it was a feeling of hot-flushed giddiness.
Key to the frenzy is the label's new Creative Director. Recently re-imagined by a former Fashion Editor of Vogue Paris, Capucine Safyurtlu, her designs arise from one simple and mischievously selfish desire, as she tells us, “To satisfy me!” And we're glad she's decided to share such a desire with the rest of us.
This Autumn Winter 2016 is Safyurtlu’s first full collection for Stella Luna, and she says it’s made up, “Of the type of essential and special-occasion designs that modern women like me are always searching for but can seldom find.”
Versatile and sleek, Stella Luna shoes are both commute-friendly and party-appropriate. Turn lock buckles are a key signature detail throughout the collection, some blown-up to a playful, modern size on a platform pool slide, others discreet metallic winks across a classic pump. Safyurtlu observes the importance of these ritualistic details, “The final click of the buckle, pull of the lace and tie of the bow. I love how this adds a small touch of caring for oneself to our daily routines,” she says.
Available online exclusively to Lane Crawford, this season’s collection is full of varying silhouettes, from pointed ballet flats to boyish brogues, to those lust-worthy thigh-high boots, a myriad of styles that resonate with different personalities, occasions and moods. “Sure, we’ve all heard a million clichés about the ‘power of the right shoe’ but you know what? They all contain more than just a grain of truth,” Capucine says.
“The right choice can transform an ensemble, make us feel much more feminine and add a new confidence to each step we take.” She’s certainly preaching to the converted.
“The final click of the buckle, pull of the lace and tie of the bow. I love how this adds a small touch of caring for oneself to our daily routines.”
